LIFE Journey through the lens
Dear readers of Olympus Passion, my name is Wittawat Mitsuwan, and I live in Bangkok, Thailand. My journey into photography began in 2017 during a trip to Europe. At the time, I thought, “I need a camera to capture this adventure.” That’s when I chose my first camera: the Olympus OM-D EM10 Mark II with the M.Zuiko 14-42mm kit lens. Its compact size, fast focusing, and image stabilization made it the perfect companion for a first-time traveler.
On that trip, I found myself drawn to landscapes and architecture. Europe’s breathtaking scenery and iconic landmarks captivated me, and I couldn’t stop clicking. It was during this adventure that I discovered my passion for landscape photography, a love that has stayed with me ever since.

A Connection to Home
When I was young. I grew up in Phayao, a small, picturesque province in northern Thailand, surrounded by mountains and the peaceful rhythm of rural life. Every time I return home for the holidays or festivals, I bring my camera along. I can’t resist capturing the serene landscapes and the simplicity of life in the countryside.
For me, photography isn’t just about taking pictures; it’s a way to share the beauty of my hometown with others. I want people to see its charm, feel its warmth, and perhaps even visit one day to experience it themselves. These photos are like little time capsules, preserving precious memories of home that I can revisit whenever life in the bustling city of Bangkok feels overwhelming.

Creativity Amidst Chaos
In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic turned the world upside down. Stuck in my condo, working online every day, I felt the weight of isolation and stress. That’s when I started photographing the view from my balcony, giving rise to my project, “Bangkok Clouds Story.”
This project became my way of telling the tale of Bangkok’s everchanging skies. From the vibrant hues of sunrise to the dramatic storm clouds, each photo was a reminder of the beauty above the chaos. It helped me find peace during a challenging time and gave me a new perspective on a city often defined by its fast pace.
Through my lens, I discovered a side of Bangkok I had never noticed before, a harmonious blend of towering skyscrapers, crowded streets, and the tranquil skies above. Photography became my refuge, a source of positivity that helped me navigate one of life’s most difficult chapters.

A New Passion Takes Flight
By 2022, as the pandemic eased and life returned to normal, I started exploring Bangkok’s parks. These walks, initially meant for exercise, soon turned into opportunities for discovery. That’s when I stumbled upon a new passion: bird photography.
One bird, in particular, captured my heart: the Verditer Flycatcher. Its vibrant blue feathers and seasonal visits to Bangkok’s parks inspired me to delve deeper into bird photography. To capture these moments, I invested in a new lens: the M.Zuiko 40-150mm F2.8 with an MC-14 Teleconverter. Its lightweight design and incredible zoom capabilities allowed me to photograph birds without disturbing them.
Bird photography quickly became one of my favorite hobbies. Each outing brought new surprises, and every shot deepened my appreciation for the natural world hidden within the urban sprawl.
Nowadays, whenever I have free time, I make it a point to explore new places during the weekends. Whether it’s a national park or a peaceful public park, these little escapes offer me a much-needed break from the hustle of work. Beyond relaxing, they also give me the chance to photograph birds and wildlife in their natural habitat, a hobby that brings me endless joy every weekend.

A Life Through the Lens
Photography has been more than just a hobby for me, it’s been a way to preserve life’s moments, both big and small. It has opened my eyes to new perspectives, led me to explore incredible places, and connected me with like-minded individuals who share the same passion.
Through photography, I’ve learned to find happiness in the little things. Whether it’s the soft light of dawn, the vibrant colors of a bird’s feathers, or the quiet beauty of my hometown, each photo is a reminder to cherish life’s simple joys.
I hope my story inspires you to pick up a camera be it a professional one or just your smartphone, and start capturing the world around you. Happiness is all around us, waiting to be framed. May every photo you take bring a smile to your face and make each day a little brighter.
