Photos around the world with Mark (II)
My name is Zsuzsanna Rohmann. Born and raised in Hungary, when I was 33 years old, moved with my husband and son to Essen, Germany. I started my photography career in Budapest, Hungary. I was always fascinated with taking lifestyle and portrait photos, and I had two exhibitions in Budapest. When we moved to Germany, I first just started to take on smaller photo shoots, and later on, I opened my own studio too.

I am a big fan of sports, I used to play organized handball for 14 years, and once my son was born, I switched to jogging and in-line skating. I love hiking, going for longer or shorter walks in the forest or to the nearby lake, Baldeneysee. For me, it is always refreshing to be outside and find different themes all around me.
I had started photography for more than 12 years. At first, it was only as a hobby, but later, slowly but surely, I have been taking it on to a professional level. Photography was always something that interested me, but I was never sure if I had the talent for it. One day one of my friends saw one of my photos and referred it to a gallery. They liked it, and it was put on for their next exhibition. This is when I started to believe in myself and began to take my photography more seriously.

I love to work with all sorts of people. From baby shootings to wedding photography to taking a simple CV shot, I can always find new challenges in every project. My favorite kind of photoshoot is still portrait photography, where I can play with different angles, perspectives and settings.
As mentioned before I opened my studio a year ago. I think this was the final step to my goal. Now I can offer all the services in my own place. I can create such backgrounds and settings that I want to have, of course aligning it also with my customers. I love when my clients go away after a photo shoot with smiles on their faces and it is even a better feeling when they come back to me. For me, the most important thing is that I can create such an atmosphere where my clients feel relaxed and right at home. This way the shoots are always in a good mood. I am specialized in portrait shootings, but I do offer a variety of other services in my studio, such as baby shootings, couples, family and pregnancy portraits.

When it is about travelling I usually take my Olympus with me. This is, for me, the perfect camera. I have had and tried out other different brands, and although in my studio I use my Nikon camera, when I am on the road I always take my Olympus E-M10 Mark II with me. This camera is perfect for capturing stills and macro pictures in nature or making sure that I have the best family moments secured when we are travelling. I think that the two lenses that I normally take with me, the 14-42mm and the 40-150mm, are perfect for all kinds of shootings.

I have been fortunate enough to have visited many places around the world. I am a huge fan of the Italian culture and cuisine. One of my favorite cities is Rome, but I also like the UK and Scotland very much. One continent I still intend to visit is North America. I would love to see some parts of Canada and the US.
Whenever I go travelling with my family, they are already a bit annoyed. This is because of the simple fact that they know that every sightseeing, every walk in a new city or even on the beach will take twice as much time as for a ”normal” family. I am really a photography freak, meaning that I always have my camera with me. I love looking at the light, how it comes down on different surfaces, how it reveals secrets of buildings, streets and people. Usually, the best photos are the ones that I don’t even prepare for. These just happen in a fraction of a moment. I see something, take a shot, and later I am always surprised by what I have captured.

It is easy to explain why I prefer my Olympus over my Nikon when we are travelling or just going for shorter trips. The Olympus, although not a full-frame camera, takes almost the same quality of pictures but of course, it is much lighter and smaller than my two full-frame Nikon cameras. When I travel, it is always a priority that I pack light and therefore my first choice is usually my Olympus baby. I would say that there is no real disadvantage of using my Olympus over my Nikon. Probably the OIS that is missing from my 40-150mm is making shootings a bit tougher than using any of my Nikon lenses that are all equipped with built-in OIS.
Overall, I prefer using my Olympus when I am on the road, and I usually use my two Nikons when I work in my studio.

It might sound like a cliché, but I do love taking photos of people and all sorts of objects and subjects. I like to capture the essence of a moment, and I am always trying to create something special for my clients. My intention is that they will have such photos that they can cherish for the rest of their lives, and whenever they pull out these pictures, they will bring back the memories that they wanted to preserve. I believe that I can fulfill these objectives perfectly with my Olympus and my Nikon cameras and as said before, if you can, never leave without your Olympus when you are travelling!
